NORTHAMPTON - An Amherst woman who allegedly attempted to run over her ex-boyfriend at a King Street gas station last month reportedly drove half a mile while he clung to the hood.
Adalia L. Bogardus, 28, 170 E. Hadley Road, Amherst, pleaded innocent Wednesday in Northampton District Court to charges of malicious damage to a motor vehicle, larceny under $250, threatening to commit murder and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
According to court documents, at 3:45 on March 18, officers responded to Damon Road to investigate a report of a man clinging to the hood of a car as it sped down King Street.
After speaking with the alleged victim, police reportedly learned that earlier Bogardus had been following her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend and that she had gotten into several altercations with the pair. During one, Bogardus reportedly punched and kicked her ex-boyfriend's car, causing damage while threatening to kill his new girlfriend, according to court documents.
Bogardus allegedly continued to follow them and allegedly struck the rear of the vehicle they were driving with hers on Main Street in Northampton.
Later, at a King Street gas station, according to court records, Bogardus drove at the man and to avoid being run over, he jumped onto the hood of her car. She then allegedly pulled out of the parking lot and sped down King Street. The man was not able to get off of the car until it had traveled about a half a mile and slowed down.
Judge W. Michael Goggins instructed Bogardus to appear in court for a pretrial hearing on May 20.
