NORTHAMPTON - A local teen submitted to facts sufficient for a guilty finding on two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in District Court Wednesday after he injured two other students with a homemade dart gun he brought to school.
According to court documents, Jacob H. Harrison, 17, of 62 West Parsons Lane in Florence, fashioned the weapon out of a long metal pipe and brought it to Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School last December.
Using an air compressor found in one of the school's shop classrooms, he then fired darts at two fellow students, both of whom were injured in their right thighs, according to court papers.
Judge Richard J. Carey continued the case without a finding for one year and ordered Harrison to complete 40 hours of community service, forfeit the weapon and pay $200 in court costs.
